Friday, June 25

 Highlights:

  • Today was Sport Day! We had so much fun doing all the different activities. Ask me what my favourite activity was.
  • We did our Rocket Launch. It was so cool to see how high each one could go.
Reminders:
  • Monday is the last day of school. It will be pajama day. 
  • We will be watching a movie in the afternoon and students are welcome to bring an extra snack to eat while they watch.

Highlights:

  • Today we did a fun Math activity where we planned a camping trip. We had $75 to spend and had to decide what items we could buy in order to stay within our limit.
  • For Literacy, we planned a book commercial for our favourite book.
  • In Science, we did a really cool experiment where we made fireworks in a jar.
  • For PE, we played freeze tag and bench ball. 

Reminders:

  • Tomorrow is Sports Day. We will have activities outside so students are reminded to dress for the weather and wear or bring sunscreen. Students must be able to put sunscreen on by themselves or come to school wearing it in the morning. 
  • Students are asked to wear their classroom colour tomorrow. Our grade 2 colour is yellow!

Highlights:
  • Today in Math, we did a review about how to solve addition and subtraction word problems. 
  • We completed our bottle rockets and they turned out amazing!
  • In PE, we played Gaga Ball and Capture the Flag outside.

  • Western Day/Denim Day is tomorrow.

Highlights:
  • Today in Math we did a review of graphing. We collected data from one another about our favourite animals and favourite ice cream flavours. 
  • In Literacy, we continued our writing on the story The Tent House and the RV Mouse. We also started to do a fun mad lib activity.
  • For PE, we learned a new game called Momentum Ball using the big omnikin ball. It was a ton of fun!
  • We designed our own bottle rockets and have voted on a design for our class rocket. They will be launched on Friday. We are so excited!
Reminders:
  • Tomorrow the Spirit Day is Tacky Tourist/Beach Day. Students are welcome to dress up if they would like!
  • Order your yearbook today if you haven't. The deadline is July 2!

Highlights:
  • Today we had a very special assembly to honour National Indigenous Peoples Day. Ask me about what we did as a school.

  • In Science, we did 3 different boat demonstrations. We looked at which boat design was the fastest!
  • For Literacy, we read a story called The Tent Mouse and the RV Mouse. Ask me what the story was about!
Reminders:
  • Tonight from 4:30 - 8:30pm families are welcome to visit the Knowledge Walk that is set up outside at the front of the school. 
  • Tomorrow the Spirit Day is Cool Clothes Day. Students are welcome to wear their favourite outfit to school.

Highlights:
  • Today in Art, we started to create a visual journal page with our most memorable moments from the school year.
  • In Literacy, we wrote the endings for our stories.
  • For Field Study, we did a fun iPad scavenger hunt using different items in nature. Check out some of our photos!










Reminders:
  • On Monday it is National Indigenous Peoples Day. We will be having a special ceremony in honour of this day. We are asking students to wear an orange shirt if possible.

Highlights:
  • Today in Social Studies we talked about residential school and wrote positive messages on our bison. We will be adding this to a display for Monday.
  • For Science, we looked three different kids of boats that we can make. We will be experimenting them tomorrow to see which one is the fastest.
  • In Literacy, we worked on the middle parts of our stories.
  • Today in Math we did a show me what you know about 3D shapes activity!

Highlights:
  • Today in Math, we used plasticine and straws to create the skeletons of different 3D shapes.
  • In Literacy, we started to work on the beginnings of our stories using our plans.
  • For Social Studies, we continued working on our travel brochures.
  • Today was Imagination Day so we did some art activities that helped us use our creative imaginations!
  • For PE, we started our football unit. We learned how to throw and catch footballs.

Highlights:

  • Today in Math we did a WODB (Which One Doesn't Belong?). This helped us to review the different attributes that shapes could have.
  • In Literacy, we continued planning our stories and wrote about the characters we have.
  • For Science, we learned about the different types of boats. Ask me what is one type of boat.
  • In PE, we played a new game called frisbee soccer.

Please see the process below for paying for your child's yearbook.  (Books must be ordered and paid for before July 2 and will be given to students on September 1.  If you are moving, we will make arrangements to get your book to you in the early fall.)


1. Go into your Parent PowerSchool account.

2. Click on "Student Fees and Service Registration" (in the bottom left-hand corner)

3. If you have more than one child, click on the student's name (on the top left).  If you only have one student, go to step 4.

4. Scroll to the bottom.

5. Click on "School Based Optional Fees"

6. Click on "School Store Sale - Yearbook 2020-2021"

7. Click on "Add to Cart". (It will then say, 'item added to your cart'.)

8. Click on the cart in the top right-hand corner.

9. Make your payment.
