Friday, April 30

Highlights:

  • Today in Math, we continued working on balancing equations. We also practiced creating equations using a given set of four numbers.
  • For Literacy, we started to plan the middle part of our fractured fairytale. We had to choose the 3 items our sneaky character would use and then describe them using adjectives.
  • In Music, we did a music break and also played a fun game. We talked and learned about different rhythms. 
Reminders:
  • On Wednesday, May 5 will be Hat Day to acknowledge 'Hats on for Mental Health'.

Highlights:
  • Today in Math we continued to learn about equality and inequality. We practiced how to balance equations.
  • In Literacy, we started to write the beginning part of our fractured fairytale.
  • For Science we learned about waterproofing containers. We discussed the materials that would be waterproof and the ones that are not. We did a building challenge where we had to try and make an egg carton waterproof.
  • During PE, we continued to play with scoops and balls. We practiced throwing and catching and did a balance game.

Highlights:

  • Today in Social we learned about transportation in the past. We created a venn diagram comparing transportation before and now.
  • In Math we did a problem solving activity where we had to create equal piles to find the solution.
  • For Literacy, we have started writing a fairytale related to Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We are going to create our own version.
  • In Science we did two different experiments where we learned about which materials absorb liquids and which don't.

Reminders:

  • Tomorrow is Community Helper Day. Students are welcome to dress up as any community helper that they would like!

Highlights:

  • Today we did a Tree Tracker Activity. We learned what all the different kinds of tree are in our school field. Ask we kind of tree we have the most of! We also learned that all the trees in Calgary are worth 1.3 billion dollars. We were able to find out how much each of the trees in our school were worth.




  • In Math we did an estimation clipboard activity. We made comparisons between different objects.
  • During Literacy, we have started to write the final drafts of our stories.
  • For Art, we did a spring tree using watercolours and tissue paper. Each of them turned out beautiful! 




Reminders:

  • On Thursday we will have Community Helpers Day. Students are encouraged to dress up as any community helper of their choice.
